WINNING THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF THE LOCAL TRIBALS IN NAXAL HOTBED

  • CIVIC ACTION PROGRAM HELD AT VILLAGE – GARDING PADAR,  GP NAKAMAMUMDI, TEHSIL – KORKUNDA – DISTT MALKANGIRI

    Under the aegis of MHA GOI and FHQ BSF N Delhi, as per the directions of Sh. S K Singh, DIG, SHQ Tac HQ BSF Malkangiri and under the guidance of Sh. Vinod Sareen, Comdt, 88 Bn, on 11 Jan 2022, Tuesday. A Civic Action Program (2021-22) was organized at village – Garding Padar from 1140 to 1400 Hrs.


The CAP program was organized at the location tactically as the main focus of the Unit is to dominate the Eastern Ghats on the Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border and the area across the Swabhiman Anchal, with its sprawling hilly region and dense forest was under ‘occupation’ by the outlawed outfit, CPI (Maoist).


The far flung and remote area with sprawling jungles and badlands offers many number of hiding places for Maoists. The area is remote and construction of bitumen road in underway in patches.


 The CAP was inaugurated by Sh Sanjay Kumar Singh, DIG Sector Tac HQ BSF Malkangiri in the presence of Sh Vinod Sareen, Comdt 88 Bn, Sh. Gaurav Mahajan 2IC, 88 Bn, Sh. Subanjan Mahapatra, DC (G) Sector Malkangiri and 2 other Officers of 88 Bn BSF.

To win the hearts and minds of the other half of the population, Smt Neeta Singh, BWWA Executive Sector Hqrs BSF Malkangiri also participated in the CAP and after distributing the Household items to the female tribal interacted with them and enquired about their wellbeing and assured them of all the help and assistance in future. Sh. Vishwanath Hantal, Sarpanch GP Nakamamudi also witnessed the programme.


Total  tribals incl 200 Females and children from Village Gardening Padar, Kendugurha, Tetuligurha, Dumdumaguda, Mithubandha, Piplapadar and Bolarbandha of GP Nakamamumdi Tehsil Korkunda – Distt Malkangiri, zealously and voluntarily participated in the Govt of India outreach program to incorporate the marginalized and the poor to joins the main stream and enjoys the fruits of the development. 

    In the CAP the 88 Bn distributed Gamcha, Dhoti, aluminum Patila, rubber slippers, steel plates and glass, umbrella, torch lights, Solar lights, Radio Transistors, School Bags, Football, volleyball and volleyball nets and medicine to the villagers and students.


  Such outreach and interaction with the youths and local tribal would go a long way in winning the hearts and minds of the tribal population in the Naxal strong hold.
