Let me tell you why I opted to lead the Club this time… BIJAY PATNAIK

Dear fellow membes

I have been enjoying the hospitality of the Club for more than 30 years.
It has been an integral part of the lives of my wife and children. When I was in the CM’s office for six years and then became the Chief Secretary of the State, I could not possibly have devoted any time to directly get involved in the management of the Club. Now that I have time at my disposal, I thought I should repay some of my debt and give back to the Club my attention, time and service. For me, it is not another empire to be conquered or a trophy to be won.
For me, it is just an opportunity to be of use to all of you, my dear Friends.
I strongly feel that every member of the Club is a person of substance and dignity. I welcome all. Mine is an open-door policy. You can walk up to me and give your ideas on how to make things better. From my side, I have set a few prayorities.

  • The Ghatikia campus (for which I had facilitated allotment of land when I was the Chief Secretary) should start functioning within the next six months or so, and members should be able to enjoy the restaurant, sports and convention facilities therein.
  • The main campus, sitting at a prime location of the city, should instil a sense of pride and dignity among its members by virtue of its ambience, immaculate upkeep and efficient service.
  • The gym, the pool, the courts and every other amenity of the Club should be as good as the best in the country.
  • * The Club food should have a class of its own. It should be tasty, hygienic and affordable.
  • The Club should not be just another place to eat and drink. It should be a place for relaxation and recreation for all the members and their families.
  • There should be special programmes for senior citizens, ladies, and youngsters.* The library and reading room should be revived. * Festivals and cultural activities should be round the year and the Members and their families should get an opportunity to showcase their unique multi-cultural heritage.Members of affiliated clubs who visit us should have a good word for our Club, and we should learn from their best practices.
  • I must appreciate the enormous contribution of all previous managements, especially of my good friend Priyabrat, who have helped the Club to grow from a modest house of the 1950s to a modern mansion of today.* This would not have been possible without the Time and Attention of those who led the Club over the years.*
  • I offer to do the same in all humility in order to take it to greater heights.
Let us all join together and make our Club a jewel in the City’s crown.
    Yours truly,
    (B. K. Patnaik)
